What the ABS Warning Light Means
The ABS light on a your car means the anti-lock braking system has disabled itself due to a fault. Your normal brakes still work, but the anti-lock function that prevents wheel lock-up during hard braking may not.
Common Causes
- Faulty wheel speed sensor
- Damaged sensor wiring or tone ring
- Low brake fluid
- ABS module or pump fault
- Blown fuse
How to Fix It
- Check the brake fluid level first
- Scan for ABS (C-series) trouble codes
- Inspect wheel speed sensors and wiring for damage
- Clean or replace the faulty sensor / tone ring
- Clear codes and road-test to confirm ABS returns
